Its square, angled pins stack vertically, flexing and folding evenly across the tread. The stacked layout wears less and bites harder forward, while the aligned space helps the car rotate and snap out of the turns. The team focused on durability and performance first, aiming for a rear tire that holds up on loose, wet or dusty surfaces. Dirt-oval racing and mid-motor or laydown transmissions called for a new pin style, carcass and outer tread. Angled pins on the outer sidewall help rotation in dirt off-road and especially in dirt-oval. A generous radius blends the tread into the body, promoting "pin snap" and resisting tears or separation. Horizontal traction bars link pins near the center for added push at high speed.
