About this part
Back in 1938 the German Army wanted an armored personnel carrier built on the 3-ton half track chassis (HL-KL-9p). Hanomag Hannoversch Machinenbau (AG) in Hannover took the running gear. Bussing-NAG in Berlin got the armored superstructure. The design was rushed, using existing armored cars as a reference, and a prototype was finished by the end of 1938. Kummersdorf proving ground put it through its paces, and the Army approved it for mass production. That's how the Hanomag Sdkfz 251/1 was born. It became the face of the German mechanized units that showed up on every front of the war. FITS: general hobby plastic models
