Grumman F-14D Tomcat War Bird Plastic Model Kit, 1/72 - Tamiya

About this part

Tamiya's 1/48 F-14D Tomcat is one of their most detailed modern jet kits. This 1/72 version takes what they learned building it and brings the same level of detail to the 1/72 lineup, with a streamlined build. The Tomcat flew from the early 1970s until 2006. It started on fleet defense, moved into strike missions in the 1990s, and later that decade gained the LANTIRN targeting pod for long-range bombing with laser-guided ordnance. The F-14D was the final variant. It kept the F-14B's General Electric F110-GE-400 engines and received major avionics upgrades. It reached units in 1992 and served over Iraq and Afghanistan before retiring from US Navy service in 2006.
