About this part
Wide tires, wide options, wide open. This 1/35 kit builds the wide-wheel version of the German Schwimmwagen. It pairs with Tamiya's standard Schwimmwagen, item 35224, and adds a new variant. This version rolls on wide tires, carries an MG35 machine gun and includes two new figures. Europe's rivers and wetlands forced the Wehrmacht to build an amphibious vehicle, and the Schwimmwagen came out of the Porsche-designed Kubelwagen. Its 4-cylinder gas engine made 25hp and 80km/h on land. A rear three-bladed propeller, lowered by hand with a rod, pushed it through water at up to 10km/h. Material shortages meant most used 133mm tires, but the 200mm wide tires gave far better off-road grip. 1/35 scale kit, length 113mm, width 42mm. Realistic suspension and 4-cylinder engine detail 200mm wide tires for the off-road edge
